Pieter Brueghel

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a significant figure of the Dutch and Flemish Renaissance. Active as a painter and printmaker between approximately 1525 and 1569, he was a pioneer in the development of large-scale landscape paintings and peasant scenes. His work remains a defining contribution to the Northern Renaissance.
