Nan Goldin

Nan Goldin is an American photographer and activist based in New York City. Her work utilizes a snapshot aesthetic to document intimate relationships and bohemian subcultures, notably capturing the impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s. She is best known for her 1986 monograph and slideshow, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, and serves as a founding member of the advocacy group P.A.I.N.
